Dear Scot,

That's good news that your doctor gave you the pain meds, and the

anti-depressant, too. Most of us are on anti-depressant's, it's a

common enough medication for a patient with a chronic illness,

especially one that involves living on a daily basis with pain

issues. You didn't mention what the script was for, so here's are

two handy sites that I use to check any prescription before I take

it. I prefer the first site, but the second one is good, too, in

that it will let you list all the meds you take and check them to see

in there are any conflicting interactions between your meds and the

foods you eat. This is all necessary information to know before

starting on any new medication, and sadly the doctor's don't always

tell you, nor are the pharmacist's instuctions that thorough.

Your doctor's cautionary attitude about drainage may because that

statistically, drainage isn't always 100% successful. For some

people, like Myrna, they get it all and there seems to be no further

trouble. Then for others, the pseudocyst will drain successfully,

but then just fill back up again at a later time. So one has to be

prepared for that eventuality. That one pseudocyst that I had

partially drained has resolved down to a tiny size twice now over the

period of two years, and then filled right back up again, each time

getting bigger than before. If I could just figure out what triggers

the process that makes them fill back up again, I'd be a happy

person. While I know it's a severe attack that makes them fill, what

is it that causes the severe attack? That's the mystery question.

I hope you find the answers you need with your research, both on your

new meds, and your drainage options. The surgeon should be able to

fully explain what type of drainage he recommends and give you his

best prognosis on it's success. Good luck, and keep us up to date on

how it's going.

With hope and prayers,

Heidi

Hoooty Hooo! (Darvocet N-100 Qty 60). He also perscribed an

anti-depressant. I never take anything without looking into it first.

I will look into it before I take it.

Are the risks of drainage procedures that high?
