Dear Tara, If it is just the casein you are worried about, please check the goat

yogurt section of Pecan Bread. Elaine tells us that the casein (proteins in the

milk) in a 24 hour batch is rendered harmless and cannot have the " allergy "

reaction or morphine reaction (casomorphine reaction).

There are also recipes on how to make almond yogurt somewhere. I trust that

some one can guide you...I hope. I made yogurt out of Lucy's Kitchen Coconut

milk recipe, by adding 1/3 cup of honey and Progurt yogurt starter, and

fermenting it for 8 hours. Very yummy and drinkable.....caused the die off of a

life time! I don't know if I recommend it. It made us sicker than the goat

yogurt. WE came casein free and remain so.

Progurt from GI Pro Health is casein/dairy free starter.

Hope this helps, Antoinette (SCD (2/06) house of celiac's and ASDer's and

finally healing....the yogurt does not cause us problems)

My DAN has advised me not to use goat yoghurt (yet) as my son has a significant

casein sensitivity. My son has been on the diet for 1.5 months.

I will preface this with " this is my experience " and I will also tell

you that my daughter is a gut kid with food sensitivities. So it may

not apply to your situation. My daughter has been casein free since

we tried casein at 14 months. We used the almond yogurt recipe from

pecanbread.com in the recipe section, but we used pecans, because

people say pecans are easier to digest. It is brown, but she eats it

with a little honey or fruit and loves it. It is work, though and I

feel that we get much more bang for our buck and time with Kirkman's

acidopholus. The pills seemed to work much better. I open the pill

and poor it onto a spoon then put a dab of honey on top. I found

this is useful so she doesn't accidentally inhale the powder. Or you

can put it in any cold food. This is just my experience. Good luck

whichever you choose to do. I use yogurmet starter which has a tiny

bit of casein in it. Or you can order casein free from

http://www.giprohealth.com/

Best to you.

Dear Tara, Does your DAN! understand the research that Elaine put in, to

discoverer that the casein is rendered harmless in a 24 hour batch of yogurt?

Please see Pecan Breads Web Site on Goat yogurt. He may be amazed about this.

God knows my family was. WE are casein free too, and remain so, yet eating goat

yogurt with excellent results. Elaine said that the probiotics in it are far

superior over other yogurts and supplements.

Yes my DAN had met with Elaine a number of times. His only concern is specific

to my son, he does not want to risk introducing micr amounts of Casein which

would interfer with our systematic approach. We are introducing various

biomedical treatments one at a time.

We will get to the goat yoghurt eventually but for now I can introduce the nut

yoghurts. My DAN is very current and meticulous. He knows his stuff and he knows

the SCD. He was spot on about the honey. My son is very sensitive to it and I

had to remove it for now. The yeast he has are vicious.
