Guest guest
Scot, I am glad you finally have pain meds. I have read each and every post you have made and have been uncharecteristiclly silent (pardon my laziness on spelling). I have been silent because I have a good understanding of what you have been facing and although our stories are naturally different, I have seen some of my story in you. And I know that feeling of helplessness too well. However I find you in the short time we have " known " you here to be a man of extraordinary charecter. I believe you are well-equipped to handle this most unfortunate burden. I just wanted to be precautionary and remind you that Darvocet has tylenol in it and as such can be dangerous to your liver. If your pain grows beyond the level that a normal dose can handle please call your doctor or visit the ER rather than self-medicate. If you notice your urine getting dark or that you have itching stop the medication and call your doctor. I personally feel that oxycodone is the best breakthrough pain mediciation for those in chronic pain because it is does not have tylenol. Duragesic patches are extremely helpful if you find you never have a pain free moment. The only caution about duragesic patches I can give from personal experience is that tapering off of them is uncomfortable. I worked my way up to 75 microgram patches and the lowest dose is 25 micrograms release per hour. When I got down to that dose and stopped using patches I had 3 days with only a couple of hours sleep and constant pacing, mental racing, and leg restlessness. Pardon my language but it was a bitch of a time. I found myself using breakthrough medicine (oxycodone) not for pain but for withdrawl symptoms and ended up getting myself nearly hooked on those. I had an excellent surgeon who promised he would see me through all of this and his staff took excellent care of me. The nurse wrote a detailed taper schedule for the oxycodone and I broke free. Anyhow, I slipped off topic. Just be wary of tylenol poisoning and let us know how the medication is working for you. Energy for healing my friend...
