Guest guest
THANK YOU! We are not alone. So others who started when we did are having " fun " . KiKi's stimming came back at the swimming pool yesterday (typical past behavior when she is stressed out...it had gone when in crowds....she hates crowds....and die off explains a lot). Has been gone for almost 1 month! Plus I have die off, my son has now joined us also...whiney and tantrumy! KiKi has thrush again....was up 8 times last night screaming...at least this time she knew who I was...thank the lord. In the past she would not recognize me when she awaken like this. I feel just icky. So, after this post I am going to heal....and deal with my " DIE OFF FAMILY " ! lol....yuck! Maybe take a nap with my babies or something. WE fought the thrush with diet last time and won. Antifungals where not all that helpful for her. They caused her to throw up and caused diarrhea/and they where expensive and especially compounded SCD safe too! With much frustration and further research, this is when I learned that Elaine discovered that the anti-yeast antifungal can cause the overgrowth of other " bad gut " guys. urgh! This is also when I learned to trust in the power of SCd alone. We had no choice but to stop the prescriptions. WE succeeded in getting rid of the thrush by just doing what Eliane suggests in the BTVC book...we went back to intro. I trust that we will be able to do it again. When the gut goes back into balance the yeast can not thrive. It is funny but after the rewards of our first HUGE die off from over indulging in goat yogurt that caused a miserable killing off of " bad gut " guys....I look forward to seeing what changes occur in KiKi again. Isn't there another die off at 6 months or 9 months? I recall this but can't find it anywhere. Can someone help me/us to find this? God Bless all, Antoinette (entire family SCD 2/06 healing when no other way worked/celiac/adhd/add/autism/mental illness and more!)
Guest guest
2-3 month, 5 month (which was our very long one), 7 month, and 9 month regressions were the ones recorded by Judy Gorman and the group of Moms who tried SCD under Dr. Baker's care. At the time of printing Dr. Baker's Autism book I don't think the group had been on the diet for very long (a little over a year), but I have heard that regular regression can occur up to 18 months. They are unexplainable by infractions and too commonly shared to be anything else. I assume this test group couldn't add other biomed treatments as that would skew the results. I am interested in the 2006 ed. of Dr. Bakers book since I assume it will have a lot more about SCD. In the 2005 ed. Baker states in bold, " SCD is one of the best treatments I have found so far for many children on the autism spectrum. " But then states that his experience with patients going straight to SCD and no other treatments prior is limited so it is hard to say *conclusively* to what extent SCD contributed to the success. So at the time he had no statistics. There should be stats. in the next edition. Take care, Elijah, 3.7, signs of ASD were gone since the 5 month until this regression came, failure to thrive, leaky-gut, eczema, and many allergies. a 2 All SCD 7 months Isn't there another die off at 6 months or 9 months? I recall this but can't find it anywhere. Can someone help me/us to find this? --------------------------------- Blab-away for as little as 1¢/min. Make PC-to-Phone Calls using Yahoo! Guest guest
Dear and Suzanne and to all, I know that Elaine said One Year for Celiac....and Two years for Crohns and Ulcerative Colitis before " cured " . This would make since what you say below about regression occurring up to 18 months. Now in light of New RESEARCH realizing that ASD kids have undiagnosed damage to their intestines, this makes much since. I guess we need to be patient. AT least we are already seeing success. It truly motivates us to stick around and keep up with the sacrafice! Dear Suzzane, I am glad to hear that you too, will try to trust in Elaine's knowledge. Elaine claimed that many interventions are not needed and often interfere with SCD success. So we will not be using prescription remedies for yeast anymore either. Especially after our success of seeing it vanish with no help from the doctors. But it did take about 10 -14 days of 100% adherence, so be patient. Oh and we went back to INTRO for three days( because of diarrhea and painful thrush in her mouth and tonsils). Yuk...but worked. Many DAN! kids are eating GFCFSF and other diets that do not allow the gut to heal and thus keep the vicious cycle going ....this is why I think many DAN! doctors and other doc prescribe the antifungals REFLEXIVELY. They truly do not understand how SCDiet works. One by one our testimonials will teach them. Elaine hoped that research would be done in this area so that more doctors would realize that SCD is the solution for so many GI problems and some ASD kids. It was her dream to have " main stream " medicine accept this, like back in Dr. Haas's day (in the 30's and 50's). No one " wants to eat this way " , so it did not gain popularity.....and I think that this is why we no repeat history......and wait for it to catch on again with the Medical Community.
