The road ahead for your daughter and her family will be a difficult

one. There will be lots of twists and turns, frustrations and

hostilities. Methadone is equally addictive has heroin; lesser of

the two evils. I never really understood the philosophy of trading

one addiction for another but it is a treatment that has been tried

and true for a very long time. I did try to find some info from

where I work to see if any thing new was on the horizon and there

was little that could be of any benefit. With my ID I can access

different literature and had hope that the treatment of addiction

would have improved but it had not from what I saw. At least at

that institution. There was some info that eluded that ECT may be a

benefit but did not say in what reguard. I think they just want to

zappp everybody. From what I did understand, she will be on the

methadone for a very long time. I will keep you in my heart and in

my prayers. Try to remember that your daughter is always going to

be your child; and I know you will always love and support all your

children; but she is an adult and has made her own choices in life.

She will need your love, but she will also need to rely on herself;

to make herself strong, to see her own mistakes, to accept those

mistakes, and knowingly strive to change her life for the better.

You, as much as you would have liked to, in the past and now, can

not do it for her.
