means he is 27 lbs. overweight. Should I put him on a diet? Or do

you all think he will grow out of it? He is very active, he plays

football, swims, and is a runner. (5 minute miles I might add)

(Proud mom!) What do you all think?

Hi Memory,

I know you worry because of what you have been through; he is your child and

you love him to death, but I think you should not say a word to him about

your fears. He is a kid and doesn't need to start obsessing now. Perhaps

when he sees your new eating habits it will help. BTW, my kid brother was

always short and pudgy and then after all his friends had long since shot

past him in height, he grew when he was 17! Relax, he's only 9! JMHO

Memory,

I have 2 boys, my oldest seems to understand and not have the

emotional make up as his younger brother who is primed to be

overweight He's got the gene--- My 13 yr old has learned well and has

choose to pick and choose the " right " things to eat. He saw mom

struggle all of his life. My youngest who is 11 and needs to loose 19

pounds, he also needs to be made aware that the food choices he

makes

will hurt him and his health. He is being made fun of now and hates to

take his shirt off in public. Thank God your son is active and there

is always adolescence height growth.

I have put my son on a diet and he has lost weight, but chooses to

eat junk whenever he can. It breaks my heart that he is being teased

by his peers. Our kids need to be educated, and yes I

would watch and control what you can of his eating habits before it

gets way out of control. But I feel this needs to be done so he feels

like he is not being punished from food.
