Guest guest
, I decided to buy organic cow milk and make a batch of yogurt. Today was the first day I gave it to (1/2 cup) and I am happy to say its been five hours and I have not seen any regressed behaviors. I am going to continue to use it unless something changes. I have to admit, this batch of yogurt is the best batch I have made to date. ---- jenniferandmiguel@... wrote:
Guest guest
Cow yogurt is a little harder to digest. But this is what Elaine always intended for us to use. If you are digesting it well go for it. The casein is rendered harmless in any type of milk when fermented the SCD way for 24 hours. Expect a die off reaction though if you are eating 1/2 cup to start with. Those who have time and can go slow, usually add it slower. Don't let the die off scare you away from using the yogurt. Die off looks will look like the flue, dizziness, irritability, some times rashes.....and is not fun. It doesn't last forever though. But is much needed to go through this transition to get to the other side...so to speak. We went fast too. Didn't feel we had time to loose. Came too sick and malnourished. The goat milk yogurt is always More drinkable. The cow is much prettier to look at, more firm and cheaper. God Bless trusting the yogurt! I will pray for your success! Guest guest
, SO interesting - we are absolutely mirroring each other - even down to our sons' names! He had 1/2 cup of cow yogurt yesterday and 1/4 cup this morning. son - 7yo, ASD, SCD 4 yrs 3 months >
Guest guest
Hi Patti, I missed your message at first because I'm trying to read from the list rather than getting the emails. There are SOOOO many messages... We used goat milk for the yogurt way back when, because 's little gut was so damaged. He seesm to be doing fine with the cow yogurt now. I do not like the Meyenburg milk at all! I used to get some really beautiful goat milk from Trader Joe's. I think it was Summer Hill Farm. They stopped carrying it and went to Meyenberg - because of the longer shelf life. Yuck! The yogurt is not nearly as nice - very runny and musky tasting. The Summer Hill was a lot better, but I can only find Meyenburg around here (Seattle area). We'll see what happens with the cow yogurt, but he's doing well so far. Thanks again for writing and thanks also to everyone who posted positive messages about our story. I wish I could stay on the list, but all the " noise " from people trying to argue with you, Mimi, Jody and Carol really gets to me. Good grief. Love to all, son - 7yo ASD, SCD 4yrs 3 months > > Hi ! I remember you from when you started. > > Have you always avoided cow dairy because he's had reactions to it pre-diet? I would be tempted to try cow. I am so lucky that Katera tolerates cow.... it definitely makes a nice, thick yogurt. I have made plenty of goat yogurt, too... but can't always get good milk. > > I honestly don't know what to tell you about the Meyenberg milk. I only used it once... and thought the yogurt was AWFUL. A friend of mine who raises goats told me that Meyenberg mixes the milk of all kinds of different breeds together... and that in fact, you never know what you're really getting (in terms of how much of which breed). I know there is a real difference in taste, fat content, etc... between different breeds of goats. > > So.... I guess that was no help. Short of buying your own flock of goats, I don't know what to suggest. > > Patti > Goat milk/yogurt catastrophe! ok to go cow??? > > > Hello all, it's been a long time, but I need help! > > I've been giving my son goat yogurt for the four years we've been on > SCD.
