Does anyone knows why some of the postops received nausea patches and Lorcet

plus Vioxx, while I only received Phenagren (doesn't help much for my nausea)

and only 10 tabs of Vioxx (50 mg) and DR R told my dentist, upon him

prescribing me Lorcet, and I wanted to make sure I could take it so I called

Dr. R, well anyway, he told me and my dentist that Lorcets are bad for the

stomach after MGB. As a matter of fact, he said I couldn't have anything

except Codeine, which I'm allergic to, however in the patient manual, and on

my discharge papers, it specifically stated that Lorcet was prescribed for

most postop, immediately upon release from the hospital. I'm just curious

about this. Can anyone out there comment, as to the prescriptions given to

them, recently, since 7-15-00, or their conversation, if any, to Dr. R on

this subject matter? I'd certainly appreciate it if you could. Also, if I

want to get a prescription for the nausea patches, since I seem to be having

a frequent problem with nausea, how can I go about getting it?

Hi,

I just had surgery on 7/24/00 and my prescriptions were as follows:

Must haves:

Prevacid 15 mg

Carafate 2 tsp 4 times per day

Citrucel 1 tsp twice a day mixed in 2-3 oz liquid

Tums 1 or 2 tablets every 4-8 hrs

Actigal 300 mg twice a day (2 wks after)

Multivitamins

If needed:

Vioxx 50 mg (moderate pain)

Vicodin 5mg/500mg 1 or 2 every 4-6 hours (severe pain)

Transderm Scop 1.5mg once every 3 days

Promethazine (Phenergan) 25 mg to 50 mg every 4-6 hrs

Mylanta or Maalox 1 tsp every 2 hours

I never filled the vicodin but did fill the vioxx, never did need it!

The patch, I didn't fill the post prescrip because I got the pre meds and

had 3 left over, did use them until I saw Dr R post op. Filled the

Phenergan haven't used it yet.

Maybe this will help!
