Good to know for Halloween! lol > Antoinette Not to re-install confusion, but there IS a medical condition that can result in discoloration of the skin. Jaundice. It usually shows up in the sclera (whites) of the eyes first, then if unchecked into the skin. More yellow, not the orange tint of carotene overload. That IS a liver issue; but it has zero to do with carotene consumption. Intemperate carrot consumption will make the carotene build up in your bloodstream. Before you know it, your skin will take on a sickly yellow pallor, a grisly condition that superficially resembles jaundice. You've got carotenosis, Fatal cases are rare, if that's any comfort: Jaundice is a yellow color in the skin, the mucous membranes, or the eyes.
