Guest guest
Almonds are a salicylate. For many people, salicylates cause behavior and/or bleeding problems. I started limiting salicylates 2 years ago after I had elbow surgery with severe bleeding afterwards. " Pecan bread " was chosen as the name for this board because many ASD children are unable to tolerate the salicylate level in almonds. We have to limit salicylates in all topicals and cleaners in our home as well. If you go to the first posts here on Pecan bread, you can read more about it. , Mom to 4 in Iowa SCD 2+ months as a family > > Dear Pattie or whoever knows, > > Why isn't almond milk considered a intro food? Guest guest
Almonds are a major reactor for our son. Non ASD. We have cut them out totally. Guest guest
LOL! I wouldn't try almonds at my house for a billion dollars! The " Peach test of November 2004 " still brings back horrible memories. DS screamed nonstop and was full of rage for 8 days straight. We've come a long way. > > > > > > Dear Pattie or whoever knows, > > > > > > Why isn't almond milk considered a intro food? WE where going > to > > try it. Guest guest
Hey all, Kai had bad reactions last year to salicylates last year when we first started SCD. He would have rages, red face and ears, and at times break out in hives. We reintroduced them this past month and he no longer has a reaction! He is also able to eat strawberries, peaches, etc without a problem. Kelli ston. Guest guest
That's great! A sure sign that his gut has done a lot of healing. Patti Re: Almond Milk - Salicylates LOL! Guest guest
This is soooooo good to hear. It is like I had to take many of Tobias' favorite foods out of his diet, like oranges, red grapes, strawberrys, and melon. It is good to hear about someone that has been able to bring them back in. Guest guest
Yeah I really thought that it would never happen because his reaction was so extreme. The oddest part is that he was having a reaction as recent as February.
