Bob: I agree 100% with about where the surgery figures on the pain scale. One of the things I've noticed about pain - I'm generally much worse off as I'm coming out of anesthesia, and the general discomfort is exaggerated by being in that fog of drugs. I took of my Scopalomine patch (don't tell Dr. R.!), and found myself feeling better and better as I walked around the fifth floor. I think you can prepare yourself mentally by looking over other people's accounts of their surgeries and how they fared. I believe that you'll find most of us in accord about how extensive the pain was. You should proceed in confidence, really. Four hours of discomfort, knowing that it will pass, is a pretty good trade off for the results that I hope will come from this surgery. Good luck to you!
