Guest guest
Antoinette, can you mold this into fun shapes with a Jell-O mold, or use a cookie cuter to cut it into shapes? I've never had liver pate so I don't know how thick it is if either of these is a viable option, but if it is, kids seem to like stuff like that. If you use a " legal " bread, you can spread it on bread maybe and try eating it like a sandwich. Just a couple of suggestions...hope something helps! She is sooo tired...we need to do something. > She is improving greatly, one week out of hospital today. Yet, she > is sleeping 14 + hours in a 24 hour day. The body does a lot of healing while asleep so that may be at least partly her bodies' way of recovering from being ill. My son liked to dip cooked carrots and other veggies into the pate. We called it his special dip. If she doesn't like the pate you can try changing up the presentation. If she eats broiled meat patties (from the intro) you can mix some liver in with the ground meat in the food processor and then make the patties. Or mix some liver into a meatloaf (can she eat eggs) If not ready for SCD ketchup you can make a spread out of some cooked well carrots pureed with a little homemade chicken broth (like a thick carrot soup). Having very fresh liver will help; it tastes much better than frozen. > Our pediatrician will not give her B12 shots (which would help with > iron metabolism and absorption.....and could be causing her to be so > tired in the first place)...she says that she is too young! Can't > see the DAN! (who would) for two more weeks....he can't work us in! > Do I dare use the nasal B12 spray that I use????? Liver has large amounts of B12 see http://dietary-supplements.info.nih.gov/factsheets/vitaminb12.asp#h3 I wouldn't use the nasal spray unless okayed by the doc or the DAN. It sounds as if she is still fragile. Sheila, SCD 2/01, UC 22yrs mom of and
Guest guest
My son (4.5yrs ASD) prefers to eat the liver without it being made into pate, but what we have done is spread it onto legal lunch meat and roll it up. I slice it and serve with a toothpick. the stick keeps it fun. Good luck! > > > Antoinette, can you mold this into fun shapes with a Jell-O mold, or use > a cookie cuter to cut it into shapes? Guest guest
Thank you everybody for the good suggestions! The one where I hid it in the meat loaf worked! We have an appointment with DAN! next Wednesday, about the B12 problem/deficiency again and sleeping all the time. Maybe he will help (they are a little more understanding of things)...the pediatrician is " locking " up again. I am sure many understand this problem! Guest guest
Hi Antoinette I read your message. My english is a little bad, and I'm not sure if I understood well about the deficiency B12 and the sleeping time. I have been reading and reading and investigating about the sympthoms of this deficiency, and those seem to have a big relation with my son. Since my son's gut problem increased he has been sleeping a lot. This situation makes me feel creazy!!! because he was a very active boy and now he sleeps and sleeps and sleeps. He seems to be weak. Guest guest
, Sleeping is good if you are seeing some improvement. His body is healing while he is on SCD. It will take some time for him to be feeling *normal* again. A lot of rest is good for the body to recover. It can also be die-off. I know when I have die-off I sleep a lot. Do not worry too much unless it goes on for months. You are pretty new at this. Just give it some time. Charlene UC 8 years SCD 5 1/2 years Hi Antoinette I read your message.
