Guest guest
I had meant to ask this earlier but it had slipped my mind. I found that article you posted regarding revealing chronic illnesses to potential employers very interesting. I have been thinking for quite some time finding a new position that has better pay or a 2nd job to supplement. Having a chronic illness is a stumbling block. If were to be asked directly. I couldn't lie. However, there is something that has bothered me for a long time and that article brought it to the surface. If a potential employer contacts the applicants supervisor, does that supervisor have the right to bring up or discuss the status of the applicants health? I can understand how excessive absentesism is far greater with those employees with chronic conditions, making them a less reliable condidate. However, with the HIPPA rules and all does the current employer have the right to disclose health information. Thank you Jerry for keeping us so well informed on current trends and issues; the prayer page and the funny stories.
