At the clinic I attended Dr R addressed this question. His response was that

he would accept a GYN IF he/she would agree to the follow up and

referrals,if necessary, and they need to state that in the PCP letter.

type doc?

I have a GYN that I have been with for 14 years and no regular

primary care or general/family doctor.

Hi,

I do not want to have you referring Dr Letter to be a gynecologist.

You are going to have a major medical disease for the rest of your life

after gastric bypass surgery.

You need a good, knowledgeable, caring Medical Dr (Internal Medicine/Family

Practice) to help care for you along with your surgeon.

My physician is my Endocrinologist who cares for me because I have

thyroid problems. Is that acceptable for a referring Dr.
