My rheumy was saying of course it is always worse in cold/damp weather. This is true from my point of view, as in Riyadh, or Ca in the summer, my joints arn't too bad. Right now it's my back, knees, feet, esp right big toe(!!) and hands. Anyway he x-rayed my knees, and I am going to have a series of injections (at weekly intervals) of something called hyalorunic acid (I think). Apparently they get this stuff from the comb of a rooster (???!!!) Anyway I checked with a couple of physical therapists I know and they tell me it is the latest thing. They aspirate the fluid from your knee(s) then inject this stuff in, and it is supposed to lubricate everything, and improve mobility etc etc, and it lasts for 6 months about. Well, I am happy to try it if it gives six months freedom from pain!!! I wonder if it works in the back? Anyway I am going on Friday for the first one. I will let you know!! My rheumy is absolutely brilliant at giving shots, he is a very gentle man who dislikes inflicting pain, so he has worked v. hard on his technique. Because earlier he gave me a couple of steroid shots in my thumb which did not hurt. I shall also get the results of my blood tests. Needless to say I will report back!!
