Guest guest
hi i thought i should write to share some experiences with yogurt over the past 2 yrs on SCD. i was making my own yogurt with almonds for 1.5 yrs. i was giving my boys each 1/2 C a day . after about 1.5 yrs, i changed over to acidophilus (powdered form) and was giving them 1 adult dose each day. this helped them to be able to tolerate some new foods but for some reason my one son's BM frequency was significantly less if i gave any foods that are harder to digest (ie coconut, or raw fruits and veggies) . i finally was brave enough to try cow yogurt (scd of course) and within a week the difference in his digestion was amazing. and this was at the same serving size of yogurt that we had been doing with almonds yogurt. he now passes a healthy good BM each day and is tolerating lots of raw fruits and veggies, and some dried fruits too. i just thought i would share this with you guys incase there is someone like me who is fearful of trying goat or cow yogurt or is thinking that probiotics are as good. the difference in effect of cow yogurt compared to almond yogurt was phenomenal. i think it worth trying a small amount to see how they do. dont be fooled into thinking that almond yogurt will heal your child's intestine as well. donna
