Guest guest
I have been on colchicine since I was diagnosed with RP by Dr. Trentham almost two years ago. From what I gather from my reading, it is a mild immunosuppressant and allows me to carry on without prednisone. I have diarrhea only very occasionally and seem to otherwise tolerate colchicine well. (Unlike MTX, I can have a glass of wine!) It is mostly prescribed as a anti-gout medication and is given to some gout patients long term. I also take Voltaren, a NSAID, which is useful since I have some spinal arthritis. I do have a question for , since she brought up her possible development of RP into RA. I have recently had a lot of joint pains in my fingers and wrists--it doesn't turn red but the joints look very knobby and swollen sometimes, like the bones are now sticking out. Is this arthritis, if they aren't red? The knobbiness seems to come and go. Or is it just early osteoarthritis? I'm (only) 46 (will be 47 on Sunday, Super Bowl Sunday, which blows my birthday since the New England Patriots are in the Superbowl and my husband will be glued to the TV) . I'm not much of a football fan, although when it comes to baseball I'm hopeless. Best wishes to all, SUE from Boston
