Guest guest
Cathy, Since macrolide antibiotics (such as Azithromycin) deplete the body of magnesium it's important to supplement magnesium. But you must not take magnesium *at the same time* that you take an antibiotic. Some people think this means never take magnesium while you're on antibiotics, and that's not true. You can take magnesium 4-6 hours BEFORE most antibiotics -- or 2 hours AFTER antibiotics. So far the only exception I've found is Cipro. Take magnesium no sooner than 7 hours BEFORE Cipro, or 2 hours AFTER Cipro. You can see it's much easier to remember the 2-hours-after-antibiotics schedule instead of those variable " before " schedules. My son takes his magnesium in the morning with the rest of his supplements, and again with noon meal. He takes Zithromax before bed, so there's really no chance of them competing that way. Does that also mean magnesium supplements?
