Guest guest
grew Alcaligenes. Natty grew Stenotrophomonas maltophilia. bd This are the bacteria that cultured from her bronch test (alcaligenes) and Natalynn tested the Stenotrophomonas maltophilia bacteria. I was wondering if anyone else's kids have cultured these before and how they treated them. Thanks any information would be greatly appreciated. Guest guest
Deb, In Dec. 2001, Bri grew both S. maltophilia and aspergillus in the same culture. That's when he started magnesium and tea tree oil, and he hasn't cultured them since. A friend of mine has an 8-yr. old daughter with CF who intermittently cultures alcaligenes along with other stuff. So she started her back on magnesium, tea tree oil and other essential oils. Guest guest
No, his doctor didn't want to treat the two organisms because he thought the counts weren't that high, though the S. maltophilia was moderate and the Aspergillus was low to moderate. is allergic to Bactrim so he couldn't have used it anyway, and Bactrim is one of the standard antibiotics for S. maltophilia. It's best to do a synergy -- Bactrim with something else but I can't remember what the other med is. Neither nor I were that keen on using an antifungal med for the Aspergillus, so I'm glad we didn't have to go down that path. I know at least three other people with CF who have also gotten rid of Aspergillus by doing tea tree oil inhalations. One young girl recultured it later, but after she started back up on TTO inhalations, then the Aspergillus went away again. Just remember, the inhalations aren't by nebulizer! She uses the water bowl method like . Some people just put the drops of oil in a little crock pot to let it steam the bedroom. One woman I know puts TTO in a vaporizer and runs it in her bedroom at night. Kim --- gdattig5@a... wrote: When they cultured this did they give them any antibotics?
