I am trying to find out more information of ocreotide to see if it is

worth the time and money.

Hi , I was put on Octreotide when I had cp. I gave myself injections

before each meal. It helped me to eat one half of a sandwich which was

wonderful. That was the positive side. On the negative side I developed chest

pain due to taking the drug. I went to a cardiologist and he called the makers

of Octreotide and asked them if the drug would cause chest pains. They told

him that it would but only in one out of one hundred would develop chest pain.

I have spoken to a few people who have taken the drug and they were lucky to

not have any negative side effects concerning chest pains. I continue today,

three years later to have chest pains and they are very painful. The pains

feel like a heart attack. I have been thoroughly checked out by my cardiologist

and he tells me that the pain isn't coming from my heart. But, if I could do

it all over again I wouldn't take any Octreotide. The chest pain has really

impacted my life in a very negative way. It wasn't worth it in the long run.

After stopping the Octreotide I went right back to not being able to eat. The

shots were just a temporary fix and gave me chest pain that I will have the

rest of my life. Take care, Shirley
