I can certainly understand your frustration and don't understand why some

insurance isn't accepted. If they pay why does it matter?? Dr. R can you

answer this one?

maybe you could try the group that Amy posted earlier..the web address for

the company (which she thought was not expensive) was

www.careentree.com/frame1.htm

Maybe that would help.

Good Luck to you!

Dee, I am also a Navy wife of 12 years. I agree with you all the way. I was

lucky to have had my surgery when Dr. Rutledge was accepting Tricare. If

there is any way I can help please don't hesitate to ask. I do have one

suggestion before I found Dr. Rutledge site I was very interested in Dr.

Champion in Georgia. If Dr. Rutledge couldn't do my surgery he would have

been my second choice. He does have a web site you could look into. Good

Luck, Liz

Dee, One more thing don't give up the fight for a better life for yourself.

There might not be another Dr. Rutledge out there but there are other very

skilled surgeons that do the lap rny. Please look into that option I will

help you anyway I can. I have alot of knowledge on WLS after researching for

so many months that I might be able to help you. Liz

Holly, Tricare only pays an allowable amount that Dr. Rutledge agrees to

accept if he is a provider for Tricare. That allowable amount is not a whole

heck of alot I think that has alot to do with him not accepting it. I think

out of the 4,000 that Dr. Rutledge charges for his professional fees Tricare

only reimbursed him 1,800 for my surgery. Out of that I only have to pay a

small co-pay if I have met my deductible. Hope this helps. Liz

One more thing I have been processing insurance for a doctor for the past 11

years and the amount these insurance companys reimburse doctors is a joke.

Say for an office visit a patient has a 10.00 co-pay. The office visit is

let's say 60.00 Out of that 60.00 the Dr. has agreed to accept the amount

in his provider contact of let's say 25.00. So the 25.00 payment from the

insurance company and the 10.00 co-pay from the patient equals 35.00. The

rest of the 25.00 that is let over to make up 60.00 has to be written off by

the doctor. The patient cannot be billed for the remainder. I often wonder

why my doctor is a provider for so many insurance companies that reimburse

him sometimes not even half of his professional fees but if you don't accept

insurance alot of these patients will go to another doctor that will accept

it so where does it leave the doctor that doesn't agree to accept these

insurance payments. BROKE !!! because the patient went somewhere else where

he did not have to pay the full cost up front. Liz

well, if tricare pays 1800..couldn't the patient make up the rest? That is

interesting though they don't pay it all. I was once a Navy wife too and boy

I can relate to what she was saying. You do get shortchanged a lot...well, I

hope it works out for all of you with tricare..I will know tomorrow if I have

insurance approval!!

And, you're not counting the cost to the doctor of keeping track of all this

insurance stuff! It further eats away at the profit margin!

I am so sorry that Doc is not accepting Tricare any more. My sister is a

widowed military wife and both of my sons are and were in the military and

like you said They have sacrificed alot for our country. My whole family has

served at different times as a duty to our country. I am deeply sorry that

this is the way our military is treated I hope that in the future things will

be different. I understand why the doctors aren't accepting some of our

insurances but that sure doesn't help us. love and hugs marg
