Dear Angel, Absolutely. If there's enough damage to the pancreas, it can't produce the enzymes in the higher amounts it used to. It's often called " burn out. " In my past, many docs have made the mistake of using enzyme levels to diagnose. I've gone through a lot of unnecesary suffering b/c of that. I don't know where you live, but maybe someone here lives close & can recommend a good GI doc. Having had this miserable illness for about 10 years has put me in countless situations of not being treated, assumed to be a drug addict & /or alcoholic. In my own life, I've found that no matter how hard I try to make someone understand how I feel, they can't. I've said this before...it's like trying to describe what an orgasm feels like to someone who's never experienced one. That's why I love this group of people so much. I don't have to put into words what I'm feeling...they've all been there. I know it's frightening & I wish we had some magic answers. Sometimes it seems like we've been dealt such an unfair hand. And at times, the fear causes enough anxiety to actually make you even more ill. A lot of the time I feel like I'm being punished b/c I'm sick. But we're here for you so don't ever apologize for venting. Sometimes, that's all we can do. Please let me know what you find out & how you're doing. If there's anything I can do (research, listen, cry with you), please don't hesitate to ask.
