Guest guest
I hope you keep a very close watch on that temp, I hope it stays down. Well it will take some time to see if it will work. I hat the injection yesterday and he said it would take a week to kick in but would last 3 weeks then it is time for another shot. So what the heck, its worth a shot... all pun intended. It would certainly be better then a whipple. Feel better soon Chrissy > Dearest Chrissy, > How are you doing? Is the Ocreotide working for you? God, I pray it > does. Guest guest
Deanna. Me again. Yup, I figured that I must have shot a blank with my insulin pen. That means that I inserted the needle in my abdomen and clicked on the pen to inject the insulin, forgetting to dial in the number of units before I stuck myself. I was in a hurry to eat and be finished in time to get to the chat room. I've done this a few times before, and then realized my mistake and had to take it out, dial in the amount, and inject it again. I've been just fine all day today. But mistakes happen when you hurry, and that's all I can think of that happened. I wasn't even in a drug haze, either, I hadn't had any oral meds in the last two days. Sometimes I get thinking about too many things at one time and forget what I'm supposed to be doing.........I think my linear thoughts processes are shot. It was a bit of a wakeup call. It's scary how high and fast my blood glucose shoots up with a small meal without the help of insulin, yet less than a year ago I wasn't even diabetic. A year ago this time was when everything was going downhill so fast and furious, I was a mess. You may or may not be right about your islets. All I suggest is that you periodically have blood glucose tests done by your doctor, or buy a glucometer and test yourself. It's something that anyone with CP needs to be conscientious about. Guest guest
Deanna, Thanks for you kind words and support. I hope it works this time too, the pharmacy bills are killing me. I see the pharmacist more than any other merchant in town, and it's gotten to the point that each time I walk in there, I'm spending $90-130! I finally talked my husband into us claiming a medical exemption this year on our taxes. He said there was no reason, we couldn't have spent enough to qualify....fortunately I've kept receipts of it all, and he was stunned when he saw the total. My pharmacy expenses seem to have become sort of a sore subject in our household, my husband has complained about them many times. They're all for medication that I can't do without, I guess we never imagined that I would become such a " high maintence " woman....hahaha, but at least it's not going out the window on weekly nail treatments and facials like my SIL has!
