Guest guest
, Dad is 78 years old, non compliant, from Europe and as stubborn as the goats on his farm back in the old country ! Yes, due to his non compliance, he too he a frequent flyer to the ER and ICU. I am sure at this point that he must of paid for at least 1/2 of the hopsital. On a good day his ejection fraction rate is 15 to 20%, considering at 15% you can be put on a heart transplant list if you meet the qualifications. Two open heart surgeries, diabetes, COPD, Emphzema and kidney cancer. Whoops,,, forgot about the gout flare ups and pulmonary hypertension. he makes Archie Bunker look like an angel. Needless to say, the nursing staff are always calling us back to the hospital as he won't let them do anything to him. Amuzing to say the least ! he comes up with dsome pretty embarressing zingers,,, however your mom's federal government line was pretty entertaining as well ! Thanks for the grin, I needed that ! Lily Lily I'm so sorry about your dad. How old is he? My mother was a frequent flying on the cardiac unit of my hospital. They got to know me well up there. They say nurses are the worst patients, nope, pts with nurses in the family are the worst!!! She had chf with pe, an ejection fraction of 30%, bilateral corotid occlusion so she didn't always get cerebral perfusion and it showed. Perfound senile dementia, but we had a lot of fun with it. She was in a nursing home the last 7 months of her life and one day they brought her my ems to the er. I was the only contact person and they got to know she and I well in the er. One day this absolutely adorable 3rd year med student was trying to get an history and physical from her. He asked her where she lived and the like she looked him straight into his eyes, saying " I am 52 years old, live in Washington DC and work for the federal government " The young man looked at me in a panic and I said " we're so proud " .... I'll keep your dad in my prayers. Oh only thing that reallys throws me over is mucus, but dog vomit is right up there, well except to other dogs....
