Guest guest
Hey Y'All I know a bunch of you have/had Sleep Apnea. Would you share your symptoms with me. I have been waking up often during the night and even on the nights that I don't wake up,I am always tired the next day. My family tells me that I have recently started snoring very loudly. I don't believe it! I can't hear it. I know this sounds crazy but the more co-morbidities I develop maybe I will have a better chance at the surgery. I am going to be put on Chlosterol medicine next week, because since I first started looking into MGB until now (6 months) it has risen to dangerous levels. My PCP and I were hoping I would have had the MGB by now so I could avoid going on more medication. Anyway, now I think I may have Sleep Apnea, I will be discussing this with my PCP next week. Thanks, as always, for your input. , Denver, NC MGB hopeful since 2/19.
Guest guest
Hi. I decided to be tested for sleep apnea because my insurance company had denied me twice and I thought that if I were diagnosed, they might take a closer look at my claim. I knew that I was suffering from daytime sleepiness, and even had trouble staying awake while driving, but did not know if I actually had sleep apnea. I was tested and found to have 86 apnea episodes in a five hour period. I was put on a c-pap machine and was amazed at how much better I felt the following morning. Even now, five days after my MGB, my c-pap has been helpful in my recovery. I intend to use it until I lose some of the weight around my stomach area. I carry most of my weight in my stomach and when I lay down, I struggle to get my breath. I had the director of the sleep lab write a letter to my insurance company. got my approval for me, so I'm not sure if the letter helped or not, but I know that insurance companies take this disease quite seriously. Just tell your PCP about your symptoms and ask her to refer you to a sleep lab for testing. You may not need a referal depending on your insurance. Best wishes. Guest guest
hi susan, I have sleep apnea and sounds like you have it to. most people who snore have it. Just some people seem to have more of a problem with it. the way the tell if u have it is to go to a specialist and they do a sleep study, which consists of spending the nite in hospital hooked up to machines and video. Not as bad as it sounds the room is more like yours at home. the camera is inconspecuously up on the wall so u really don't see and realize you are being filmed lol. anyhow then they wake you up and you go home early in morning. then if you have it you go back and wear a mask that blows air to keep you air way opened and they adjust it to where you get the most restful nights sleep. Hope this helps. Good luck getting the mgb hugs and slugs marg
