Guest guest
I'm not sure how you would pay for them in Canada, but they are $$$$$. You do not have to buy a new one every time the child grows. They are designed so that there is room to grow they are adjustable. When the person grows out a one size you send it back to the company and they exchange it for one the next size up. We have the MedPulse system, but I think this is how Advanced Respiratory does it too! VESTS IN CANADA Hi I havent been on for a long time but I need to ask .Do people have to buy there own vests,or are they funded?where do we get them and how much do they cost.?We live in Canada,my granddaughter is almost 2 with cf.She may not be old enough for a vest yet but we need to know if this is somthing we need to save up to buy when the time comes. And also on the average how often do they have to get new vest, kids grow fast, are the vest made to grow with your kids for a couple of years or do you have to get new ones each time they go up 1 clothing size? little_striver@... --------------------------------- Post your free ad now! Guest guest
We have been working with some of the Canadian government officials to get Vest funding, but it still is a work in progress. The Canadian CF Foundation is not a big supporter of the Vest, even though we have presented them with all of our clinical data and documentation of the healthcare dollars saved as evidence for supporting Vest usage. American heathcare insurers (some of the stingiest in the WORLD) are paying for the Vest because of the cost savings they have realized. Even our Medicare system is now paying for the Vest because of the extraordinary health outcomes that patients have experienced AND the money that has been saved. I know that some Canadian families have went to their PMs, but I am not sure of the results. There are some private health insurance companies that pay for the Vest, but they are the exception. We will continue to try to work with the Canadian gov't and the CCFF. We even encourage them to do their own clinical trials so they can determine the Vest's effectiveness for themselves.
