Rhonda:

You seem to be so on top of what is happening I hesitate to comment, but

here goes:

1. If you speak with the ins co by telephone confirm the

telephone conversation in a brief letter to the insurance company

2. PUT A 'DATE CERTAIN' IN THE LETTER. This is soooooo

important. Always close a letter or T/C with a request for a response by a

certain date. Always. Always. Always date

everything. Always put your identifying numbers.

3. KEEP COPIES OF EVERYTHING, it may help with appeals etc.

later.

4. If you have not received a response by your rquested date,

IMMEDIATELY send off another letter with a copy of the first politely asking

for a response to your earlier inquiry. An example:

August 15, 2000

XXX Ins Co

XXXXXX

XXXXX,XX

RE: Your name and account number

Dear Ms.

Thank you for assisting me on the telephone this afternoon.

I understand from our conversation that I will do the

following:********************* and/or that you will do ****************.

May I please have a response by (three weeks hence)

Sincerely,

etc.

Part of the reason these insurance companies get away with these delays is

because people don't keep contemporaneous records and copies of everything

to proove what was told and what they did. I know it is easier to do

everything over the telephone, but that way you have absolutely no proof of

what transpired. None. Also no record of how far along you are in the

process.

Depression is so unbelievalily debiliating. and there is nothing anyone can

say. Nothing. I'm afraid for you, and hope, if you do nothing else, you'll

take your e-mail to a friend and just ask them to put their arms around you.

It's my only sugestion.
