I discussed this particular type of therapy with our doctor just last week at

our regular clinic visit. He is very open minded. He told me that the only

way you could get the desired results that Hudson is getting with her

children is to get this in aerosol form. You cannot purchase aerosol form of

this drug, but you can buy the tablet form. He said that in tablet form the

necessary ingredients break down too early in the body to be effective. He did

go on to say that he did not know of any harmful side effects of taking this

particular medicine in pill form, but he also did not know of any way it could

be beneficial. He said we could try it if we wanted and see what happened.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Just wondering.

Hi,

When I e-mailed Hudson about this she said that the oral GSH could help

with digestive issues. Her kids are on both the oral and inhaled GSH and they

have been able to reduce enzyme use from the max to just one or two caps. I

think the oral could help to unblock the pancreas thus the reduction in enzymes.

It would seem that it would be plausible anyway.

That is true according to the results in some of the studies. There have

been many other folks who have done their study of their own & recorded

stats. They also shared them with other folks . So they do have allot of

actually info from folks....Dr Bishop was really very clear on the study

results that did. He is going to be presenting at the No Amer. CF Conf this

October in CA. It should be VERY interesting. AND I actually understood him

:):):)

I also think that there are several univ./researchers who are extremely

interested in this. ---YEAH. Natural supplements? :):):0

There are 2 companies that Dr. Bishop and Hudson say are very pure and

also the GSH must be buffered.

I think that I missed something. What is GSH ( Glutathione ). I

must have missed the beginning of this discussion. I have not heard

about this at all other than the messages on list.

Ashauna,

glutathione or GSH is a naturally occurring substance. It is found in almost

all of our cells. it is secreted from the cells and helps to thin other

secretions, like mucus. People with CF make it but cannot transfer it from

within the cell wall. To the rest of the body. Hudson and Dr. Bishop

have been bringing it to the media's attention that no one has used this to help

people with CF. They are now using it to help people with CF. Most Docs (from

what I have heard) aren't too interested in using it because it is not a drug

but a natural supplement that is not FDA regulated and there are problems

knowing how pure it is and if it is buffered as it must be. We have decided not

to use it because 's lungs have been well. (they have it both orally and

in a nebulizer, but is a pill that you have to crush and add very specific

amount of water to.....) I was mostly looking into it for digestion but we have

decided to wait on it after discussing the possibilities with the doc........

you can check out the site at http://members.tripod.com/uvicf but please

discuss it with your doctor first before putting your little guy on it.

I am very leary of doing anything without talking to our doctor. I

guess that this is because I just am not confident in my all around

knowledge of cf. It is making little baby steps but nothing like some

of you moms out there that are very well versed in the subject. I know

this will come in time though.

As far as trying GSH not really interested in it from what I have

heard but will keep it in my mind for future. Actually will talk to

Doctor about it just to see what he has to say.

Thank you, I am going to go and read 's story later today.
