Filter it through cheesecloth or a paper coffee filter for a few hours. Throw away the liquid and use the nicely thickened yogurt. It will be like heavy sour cream. This can be done in the fridge or at room temperature > Am I doing somthing wrong? > And one more question, I was told by an older family member that two > many nuts can cause problems in the colon. Guest guest
, Older people with tendancies toward diverticulitis are usually warned by their doctors away from eating nuts and seeds.... because little bits can become stuck in these pockets in the intestine, causing infection. It's not anything inherant in the nuts... except their texture and the tendancy to not be chewed up properly, and to pass through without being broken down. For example, nut butters would not cause that problem at all.... even in an older adult who already had diverticulitis. Those patients are usually told to avoid tomatoes and blueberries, also.... but it only has to do with the seeds of these foods, which can tend to irritate the gut in someone who already has diverticulitis. People who have diverticulitis problems have actually followed SCD and had a reversal of their conditions. From what I understand, a healthy gut will tend not to form these pockets (diverticuli) as readily. Of course, you will want to incorporate a balance of all the various healthy foods allowed on SCD. Patti, mom to Katera Spices? I know most individual spices are allowed, but how about Mrs. Dash? Also, I made yogurt for the second time yesterday and it didn't come out as thick as I thought it should. Am I doing somthing wrong? And one more question, I was told by an older family member that two many nuts can cause problems in the colon. Is this true? I cook alot with almond flour, could this eventually hurt my son and daughters colon, considering my son already has problems with his colon?
