Guest guest
From what I understand it is genetic, kinda like CF (just because it's genetic doesn't mean that everyone will have it). My brother-in-law has it and so does his uncle on his mom's side. Hope this helps. Katy Mom to Austin 4 no CF & Piper 1 w/CF
Guest guest
Katy Thanks for the info, I can't find any info when I search for it on the web. I was wondering if it is more predominant in certain ethnic backgrounds and some other things about it...... Re: Off Topic/Osgood Slatter's disease? Guest guest
Hi , Years ago the oldest son of a good friend developed Osgood-Schlatter's around the beginning of his teen years. I remember she said the doctor told her it's more common in boys and he would outgrow it (and he did), but at the time it was pretty uncomfortable for him. The ped recommended some stretching exercises for flexibility and strengthening and also advised him to drop off the football team because there was greater risk of fracture and longterm damage should he get hit in the knee. I'm sorry your neice is going through this... but gosh, thank you so much for the memory of this friend and her wonderful family! The parents of 's friends are the reasons I survived his childhood with CF. This particular mom -- Cindy has three boys -- all now grown. She was a second mom to my children. My daughter had the biggest crush on the oldest son, (the one with Osgoods). In fact, when got engaged, my daughter told Cindy, " Well just remember, *I* was your first daughter! " The middle son, , is my son's age and had really bad asthma growing up (as does his mom still). Whenever and had sleepovers they'd do their neb treatments together while playing Nintendo. That's one reason never felt different from his peers -- heck, try to find a kid in Oklahoma who didn't have asthma, a nebulizer or puffer! The youngest son, , is my daughter's age and to this day if you ask her who her best friend is, she'll say . They tried dating a couple times but it didn't work out because they felt like brother and sister. But ooooh, I'd love it if she married , he's such a cute and a sweetheart, but mostly she'd have the best in-laws in the world! My niece has it and I have had similar symptoms since I was a pre-teen. just curious.

Guest guest
, Have you tried a different spelling? I'm not sure how to spell it, but I can look in my husbands nursing books and see what I can find. I'll let you know. Guest guest
In my handy-dandy medical dictionary (Merck, 2001) that is how it is spelled--same in the one from Saunders. Good luck! n Rojas
