Guest guest
1) from the beginning, are salt and pepper okay? (Thinking about all those eggs) 2) the intro diet suggests beef patty. Does just mean cooked ground beef with nothing added to it? 3) the intro diet suggests dry curd cottage cheese. Elsewhere, dripped yogurt is suggested as a substitute for dccc. But it seems people have recommended not to use yogurt so soon. I'm a little confused. Thank you, Angie
Guest guest
> 1) from the beginning, are salt and pepper okay? (Thinking about all > those eggs) Angie, They are OK but try a salt with no dextrose if possible. Some also want iodized. Baleine's Sea salt and also Kosher salt are legal. http://www.saltworks.us/shop/product.asp?idProduct=63 > > 2) the intro diet suggests beef patty. Does just mean cooked ground > beef with nothing added to it? Yes, but this will only be for a few days. In no time you will gradually be adding other foods including herbs and unmixed spices. Sorry I can't answer about the dripped yogurt on the intro diet. Carol F. Celiac, MCS, Latex Allergy, EMS SCD 6 years
Guest guest
Hi Angie, 1) from the beginning, are salt and pepper okay? (Thinking about all those eggs) - Salt yes. Pepper is okay for some but not all people. Depends on how fine a grind the pepper is and how injured the gut is. You should really skip it on the intro diet. 2) the intro diet suggests beef patty. Does just mean cooked ground beef with nothing added to it? - Yes, you can salt it though. 3) the intro diet suggests dry curd cottage cheese. Elsewhere, dripped yogurt is suggested as a substitute for dccc. But it seems people have recommended not to use yogurt so soon. I'm a little confused. - In BTVC Elaine said you can moisten DCCC with a little homemade 24 yoghurt. This is for those doing the dairy version of the intro diet. If you are dairy free then this doen't apply. Those who have been dairy free and are just starting dairy free are the ones who the recommendation to gradually start slow with adding the yogurt is geared towards. Also applies to those with yeast overgrowth etc. Eating lots of the yogurt at once will increase die off symptoms. So if die off isn't to bad and you have either eaten yogurt preSCD or been taking a probiotic go ahead and use a little yogurt at the beginning. But do start small and work up (ie. Don't start with 3 C of homemade 24 hr yogurt Sheila, SCD 2/01, UC 22yrs mom of and .
