Guest guest
Allan, Yes, it is critically important that you introduce.... so yes. You didn't say how long he has been on SCD, but you could have been supplementing that all along. You really need to re-establish the good gut flora. Patti, mom to Katera, also 9 yrs old, also with epilepsy ( & CP, ACC, micro, dev. delays, non-verbal, dyspraxic, etc, etc.) Probiotics - the importance with SCD Hi ! I am new to this group: I would much like to know how important the Probiotics are on the SCD ? I have my 9 year old son with Epilepsy on the SCD and he is also GF/CF and only on the low to mid-low GI foods(that is without Honey eg.), but with great results uptill now in his seizure-activity, and well- being with no meds and so on... ) But we have been on the SCD for some time now, and I wonder if it is wise to introduce the " Lactobacillus Achidofilus " with his daily food now ? Regards and thanks in advance / Allan For information on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, please read the book _Breaking the Vicious Cycle_ by Elaine Gottschall and read the following websites: http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info and http://www.pecanbread.com
Guest guest
Dear Allan, It has been suggested to us by many, and now from me to you, to follow the guidlines in the BTVC book. If Elaine says do it we do it, if she voices concerns we do not. WE are having success in controling siezure too. We have had to adjust her diet back to peeled and cooked foods but, she has not had a sizure in over one month and this was only during the 2-3 month regression that BTVC book warns about. This is how I look at it: If Elaine says to do it, do it. If she warns not to do it. Don't. It is working for us.
