Hi Tammy,

The " avoid shelled peanuts as most have added starch " from BTVC refers to cans

of shelled peanuts and buying in bulk - it isn't referring to peanut butter.

For peanut butter you can buy it commercial or make it yourself. Making it

yourself will entail a lot of work shelling the peanuts etc. Commercial sugar

free peanuts-only, peanut butter is one way I save time.

The legal/illegal list says that you should not buy shelled peanuts. Does

that mean it is better to purchase commercial peanut butter rather than

making your own? And that it does not sense to make your own since making

your own would mean you would have to shell all the nuts first?

I am a newbie to nut butters- just introduced them. I have a bag of blanched

almond flour from Lucy's Kitchen. I fill my mini cuisinart about halfway up with

the flour and add some olive oil. After about 30 seconds it resembles a smooth

butter- you can add oil as needed. It is really good with sea salt and honey

mixed in too!!! I've never been a huge fan of pecans or walnuts, but I think

this resembles peanut butter. Just be careful to only eat a little at a time so

you don't overdo it in the beginning- it's so good it's hard not to!!!

Hey Darlene,

You're welcome! I don't know which one you have - i think mine's an 8003 but

can't quite remember. I think i had to print my manual on-line and in case you

need here's a link below to where you can find the manuals and it tells you how

to make nut butter. In one place it says no nozzle needed (may be the 8005) but

make sure you put the blank cone in - the manual has pictures and descriptions

of the parts. My 8003 manual says to use the blank cone with the round nozel.

I also saw where it says to remove all skins and shell and i'm pretty sure i

made some almonds that were not blanched and the shells weren't removed but i

guess we need to remove them! :) Can you remove skins from pecans or walnuts?

I hope your pecan butter turns out yummy and your tummy likes it too! :) Pecan

butter is supposed to be the easiest to digest so i hope to be able to eat it

soon.

Hi ,

Mine is also a 8003. Thanks for sending me the link to the manuals. That was thoughtful of you. My manual has no explanation of the parts so this will be helpful. I was wondering myself about the skins on pecans. I don't think you can remove them. DarleneIntestinal DysbiosisSCD 3 weeks

You're very welcome. My manual didn't have this when i bought it either so it

was helpful to find it on-line. Maybe we could just add oil to the pecan butter

to make it creamier and that might help. Also, it says in the on-line manual

that you can process it through a second time to make it creamier - i've never

done that but that might be a good idea to help break it down more and then add

some oil. Hmmm, I'm wanting to try some now! lol! I need to wait a while

though. I've stopped all my supplements and went back to intro for 5 days so

i'm going really slow at adding things. Let me know how it goes! :)

SCD is such an adventure! Finding out I can make all my own stuff and it usually turns out as good or better than store-bought! I made the spaghetti sauce with spaghetti squash on the weekend (recipe in BTVC). My husband didn't trust that mine would taste good and so he made his own, haha! Well, turns out he thought mine was WAY better than his made with canned sauce. He tasted it with the squash and declared "I would eat that!". So yes, when i make the pecan butter I'll let you know!
