Guest guest
Hi, If your pancreas is not producing its own digestive enzymes properly, you can have symptoms of malabsorption such as diarrhoea, steatorrhoea (fatty diarrhoea...usually very pale in colour), gas, lower abdominal pain etc. The enzymes are given to replace your own enzymes and help with digestion. They can also help to " rest " the pancreas when it has problems. I find that the enzymes work very well for me. There are several brands. I take Creon. There are tests such as the faecal fat test which can indicate whether or not you have malabsorption but an experienced gastroenterologsit or pancreatologist will often know anyway from other signs and symptoms.
