Guest guest
Georgianna Sorry to hear that isn't doing so well just now. Re IV antibiotics is now on regular 2-monthly IVs until further notice. Initially he would be put on IVs if he had additional coughing, poor air entry in his lungs and there seemed to be extra clouding on an xray. He would be given extra flucloxicillin and cipro first and if he didn't respond well to these (he never did) he would be put on IVs. As it worked out this was about every 2 months anyway. He has been on routine IVs for about 6 motnhs now and interestingly this time he didn't seem to be ready for his routine course of IVs . I think the zithro may be kicking in and keeping his chest clearer of infection. Hope things work ok for Margaret - Mum of 4yo cwf What criteria for IV antibiotics I was curious what criteria everyone's doctors used for deciding when to start IV antibiotics. has been having problems with her saturations again and we are seeing pulminary tomorrow. She has started with a cough but it isn't too bad yet. We did IVs in late May and that cleared her up for a while and I'm disappointed to even be thinking about them again. She has also been having a horrible time with her weight again. For a while she was gaining and even got over 20 lbs but has just had one thing after another since May, including several stomach bugs and is now under 18 lbs again. I don't know what we are going to do about it. A Anyway, I was really just curious to find out what other docs used to decide when to do it. Guest guest
Hi, 's docs use a few things. The one I know will always get her in the hospital is if her pulse ox goes below 95%. She is usually at 99-100% so if she is lower than that we know she is sick and needs antibiotics. Usually there is coughing with that though. I hope she won't have to go into the hospital.
