Hi Kristi,

I'm sorry your having such a difficult time of it. I wanted to say

that I think that is staying until Tuesday. I may be wrong, but

I believe that's what she said. I know that she will help you as soon

as she gets back. She is just so busy right now. She did tell me that

the rest of the Alabama folks are going to be her priority when she

gets back. I know for a fact that there is a least one more Alabama

person who is waiting and not heard from her yet, so you're not

alone. I believe if you will just give her a few more days, she'll

get everything straightened out for you. It's so hard to be patient

when you want something so badly. I had to wait a year for approval.

Dr. R's office is really backed up right now, too. Barb is pulling

her hair out trying to get things done. My thoughts are with you.

Have you tried using Vaseoline, cover whole finger, and work

as much as you can under the ring. It should come off, unless you

have a big knuckle. Good Luck. Joyce

There is a trick you can do with string.

Wrap it around your finger tightly starting at the base of you finger at the

ring. Wrap real close together and then try and slip ring off over string.

I work in an ER and we get them off that way sometimes. be careful, dont

leave the string wrapped around you finger very long.

Hope it works.

Hi Rosemary!

I am going to try vasoline tonight & if that doesn't work some trip Bob told me

about putting a string around my finger.... We will see! Lynn in Dr. R's office

told me I could tape it, but you know how that is... I am scared I will get

there & I will get a nurse who wants to cut my finger off (smile!).

Rene - You might also try putting your hand in very cold water and

then working the ring off as your hand " shrinks " because of the

cold. That usually works for me in a pinch!

You may not believe this but try it anyway.... spray " Windex " on your

ring finger and twist the ring,,,, may have to do it a couple of times

but it WILL come off!

Hey, ...Do you recall a lady that is post-op- from TX and was an American

Airlines employee?? She had Prudential POS. I am still fighting with them...they

have approved MGB for out of network. They denied me for in network because it

is out of state! My attorney friend is working on an appeal letter this week.

Thanks! Hey,did I hear that there is a post-op e-groups? Maybe I could find her

there. For some reason I thought her first name was Pat..Thanks, ! Tami

No, Rexanne is in a size 6 and her high school cheerleading outfit, size

6, had to be " taken up " to fit for her 30th HS reunion last week. (I am

soooooooooooooo envious!!!) LOL!

Hi there!

I just joined this group, since I am having some questions pop up.

I've been on the SCD diet for 3 months, which has helped cure or

lessen much of the pain I've been going through. After a lot of

research, I had my 2 daughters tested through enterolab for gluten

and casein reactivity. They were positive for both. So now I have

some questions regarding children (they are both on the SCD diet

with the exclusion of all dairy since they are mounting an immune

reaction to casein)(their eczema, D, constipation, hyperactivity,

uncontrollable emotions, headaches and backaches are all gone).

1. Calcium - for young children (age 2 and 5), how much calcium do

they need? Can they get this from the SCD diet minus dairy, or

should I supplement? What is a good supplement for the young ones

who cannot swallow a pill without chewing?

2. Multivitamins - is this necessary or detrimental for my kids?

Again, what is a good supplement for those who cannot swallow

without chewing?

3. Enterolabs - I did as much research as I could before paying for

tests. Their casein scores were 15 and 28. Gluten was 38 and 60.

Does anyone have opinions about the validity and accuracy of these

tests? (From the standpoint of defending my elimination of dairy

products from their diet permanently)(father in law is convinced

that perhaps the tests were wrong, and therefore we are wrong to

take dairy away forever)

Thanks so very much for your input.

Heidi,

I don't know what the RDA is for calcium for young children. I'm sure you could

ask the pediatrician for a resource... or do a Google search.

If you're eliminating all dairy, I think it makes common sense to supplement.

With very careful planning, you might be able to supply enough with other

calcium rich foods (almonds, broccoli, etc.). It would depend on your food

selections. Really hard for us to say. You need a good nutrition

almanac/reference... so you can plan according to how much calcium is in

everything they are eating.

There is a list of legal supplements on www.pecanbread.com... under the

" supplements " link. This is not every supp in the world that might be legal, but

a good starting point. I would look for those in capsules that can be opened

into food... or tablets you can crush with a mortar and pestle. My daughter

can't swallow pills either.... so that's what I always do.

I know zero about the tests you refer to. I just know that many kids here who

have sensitivities to gluten and casein, can tolerate these foods after being on

SCD long enough to heal their leaky guts.
