So I went to Scope, the Starband Provider. The eval went well and the

Orthotic woman who took care of us was thorough and patient. She took

new hand measurements and used the scanner to get a more precise

measurement. Now last Friday I went to Cranial Tech and they stated

that Bryce's assemetry was at 30mm and he would be in a doc band for 2-

3 months. I was told today at Scope that he is at 18mm assemetry and

would need a Starband for 5-6 months. How could the measurements and

the duration of treatment be so different? I was already confused and

now I just don't know what to do. The lady at Scope explained that CT

may have been giving a conservative estimate and that a second band

would likely be required. She also stated that the Starbands are a

thicker foam and that they last longer, thus not needing a second

band. The other dilema is the whole health insurance rat-race. My ins

wont cover the band at CT and MAY conver the band at Scope. I think i

am going to just pay the money up front and get this " headgear " for my

son ordered early next week. I am just so torn. Both companies are

good...they just gave me two totally different senerios. I obviously

want Bryce in a helmet/band for the least amount and time...but I want

the best results. What would you do? Bryce turned 5 months on 5/7.

They could be taking measurements from different points of the head.

Not everyone measures the same. Also, babies at CT only need a

second band 14.1% of the time, and that's a percentage from EVERY

baby they have ever seen since they started. I would call the

therapist at CT and ask them about a second band if they haven't

mentioned it already. They should be up front with you and tell you

what they think of the possibility.
