Guest guest
We have been SCD for 6 days. My son is having a hard time with the carb withdrawl and I am not sure about something.. Before he could not tolerate fruits or veggies but now he has been doing ok with pear sauce and juice, bananas and today he had zuchini. I thought he was doing ok with this stuff but the way he is acting I am not sure. He is whiny and withdrawn and complains constantly about the diet asking to go back to his old one. He use to get like this -except for the whining about the diet part- when he had fruits or veggies with gfcf. I am just not sure what to do. Take him back off fruits and veggies all together and wait? But then all he would be eating is eggs and chicken again..sigh. Or is this still just die off?? He is on the yogurt too 3/4 tsp today. Advice would be appreciated! Mandy

Usually 4- 5 for those with diarrhea and 2-3 days for everything else (constipation etc.) The pear sauce you mentioned previously is fine to eat on pancakes . Pearsauce isn't on the intro but you've probably done the intro long enough since you've been on the diet 6 days. It sounds as if your son needs the legal carbs. Between just starting the diet and having yogurt I would chalk the " whining " up to die off. Have you tried epsom salt baths? - many find them very helpful see http://pecanbread.com/difficulties.html#initial and http://pecanbread.com/badreaction.html Sheila, SCD 2/01, UC 22yrs mom of and
Guest guest
Mandy, This is very typical for a child on SCD for only 6 days. It should be temporary. Yes, I expect this is all due to die-off. Since you're also doing SCD yogurt, there are some really big changes going on down there. I would suggest you try to gradually shift the balance toward more veggies, if possible. Don't cut them out, though. Patti not sure what to do-intro diet-reaction? We have been SCD for 6 days. My son is having a hard time with the carb withdrawl and I am not sure about something..
