Greetings! I am curious whether any of you have seen a pain

managenent specialist, an anesthesiologist? I have been referred to

one by my orthropedic surgeon, but have postponed it until my

Medicare kicks in in November, as we are self-employed & everytime we

use the insurance they like to raise the premiums!!! (This happens

after things like Bypass/new mitral valve surgery that my husband had

last year!) I know they do implants, but would like to hear from

any of you who have actually seen one, & your experiences. Thanking

you in advance......peace, serenity & hope to all......

,

I've seen two different anesthesiologist pain management doctors at two

different times. Both of them said that other than continuing the medications

that I was already using (then it was Percocet and a 25 mgs. duragesic

patch), all else they could suggest for pain mangement was a celiac block.

I did an intensive study and questioned over 30 people who had had the

blocks and reached the conclusion based on my findings that they were

ineffective more than 90% of the time, and those that were effective needed

to be done repeatedly, for some in less than 2 weeks afterward. I concluded

that those weren't suitable enough odds for me to try it. My current doctor

agrees with this assessment, so we don't discuss them as an option.

If you type " celiac block " or " celiac plexis block " in the archives, you should

find several posts with people's comments.

With hope and prayers,

Heidi
