Guest guest
Dear Rajeev, It is good that you are having so little difficulty since your surgery. You complain of occasional stomach discomfort. Have you noticed any association with this discomfort occuring after you eat? The pain could appear soon or several hours later, if it were food related. One of the most common reasons we have discomfort is when our compromised pancreas' try to deal with foods that are too high in fat. If you aren't taking enzymes, and are eating such a high fat diet, it very well could be that your discomfort is caused by what you are eating. There are other foods, that while not necessarily high in fat, are also known as irritants to the pancreas. Those foods are white rice, white sugar and white flour, so it is suggested that we eat those in low quantity. High fat foods would be red meats, fried foods, bakery products such as donuts, cookies, danish, etc. With only 50% pancreas function, I can't imagine that some of the higher fat foods wouldn't cause you some distress. I suggest that you try cutting back your fat consumption to half of what you eat now and see if that makes you feel any better. If it doesn't work after a few weeks trial, let us know, and we'll see if anyone else has a different suggestion. I hope this suggestion helps. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H.
