Guest guest
I thought I'd let everyone know, I bypassed my GI doctor, whose nurse said I had to have patience, and made an appointment with Pappas. I have an appointment at Duke Medical Center on Monday. The Whites, who belong to this group, gave me his name. I feel empowered. I don't know what my GI doc will say. Guest guest
Tammy I just want to say GOOD FOR YOU. It makes me angry when someone at a dr. office tells you to be patient. I wonder how they would react if it was them. I work at an Oncology clinic and I do everything I can to accommodate the patient's wishes. I do alot of FMLA and disability forms for patients. Some people in the office say things like " I can't fill out these papers today or I'm sorry you'll have to call back later " I hate that. I ALWAYS try to do what I can as soon as I can for them. If a patient comes in just mad, angry or upset, I let them speak however they feel and do what I can to help them. If I was diagnosed with Cancer I would be mad at the world too. I think most people in offices do not think that way until something like this happens to them. I do have sympathy for them. One of the patients I do disability forms for every month sent me a Christmas card and little present just because she appreciated me filling out the papers for her. She has terminal cancer and she sent me a card. When she found out I was out because of my pancreatitis she put me on her prayer list at her church. I told her that she didn't have to thank me, that this was my job. I enjoy my job. I have no problem doing anything for them in a timely manner. When one of our patients die I send a sympathy card with everyone in office signature to the family. Most of them send thankyou cards for the care their family member received. I love my job. These patients have such a strong will to live. Anyway I am rambling, Just wanted to say good for you for seeking a second opinion on your own. If the doctor gets upset then he wasn't a good doctor. Guest guest
Tammy, I too went over the local GI doc. and made myself an appt. at Indiana University Hospital. I am glad to read that you took matters into your own hands. I find that being well informed is one of the best things that you can do for yourself. Good luck with your appointment.
