Guest guest
Hi! I am single mom to 4 incredable kids! 16 has autism down syndrome and microchephaly. He has been on the OLD version of the autisdm diet for 4 years. I am eager to start this newer model of a diet! My other three wonders are Charissa 10 (repaired hair lip and cleft palet), Chanysse 5 (achondroplasia, spina Bifida) and Jezeriah 10 months, (Down syndrome + digestive issues)all adopted! Three are asian and our baby is Bulgarian. I never give my Asian kids milk products. I would like to know if there is significant research to know it is safe for Asian kids to drink goat milk/yoguart. My youngest son gets fresh goat milk straight from our local farmer that saved his life! He was allergic to everything especially store bought formulas!! I have never given the goat milk to my other kids as they are Asian. I use goat whey in the goat milk and my baby son is 21 pounds as a result! He is so very healthy now in every way!!! Can I add this to liquids for my son with autism? He is having the runs right now and I want to make sure he keeps his electrolytes. Goat whey has the most amount of this stuff and so much more healthy ingredients to keep you well! Thanks and I am so HAPPY to have found this support! Cheers! Guest guest
whey is difficult to to digest and would likely exacerbate the diarrhea, an asian would be expected to have difficulty the key concept of scd is undigested food being fed upon by a fermenting gut flora releasing toxins downs syndrome is difficult because of the way its nutrient requirements outpace the ability of the digestive system to deliver a bit of solar noon sun exposure may be helpful to augment pathways with anti bacterial peptides 'skin vitamin d' in the index of http://tinyurl.com/2csa3 there is a btvc legal/illegal foods list http://tinyurl.com/kk9jl and a list of revisions that i personally have found useful http://tinyurl.com/pc7nu (can differ from btvc) cannot say much to help your immediate problem i am afraid, hopefully you will get a to the point reply > I am single mom to 4 incredable kids! 16 has autism down > syndrome and microchephaly. Guest guest
Momfreespirit, I highly question your version of legal/illegal and think you would be better to not advice someone new to be following it. This does include references made in the body of an e-mail, subject lines and signature lines. This rule is done to protect those new to SCD and to avoid confusion. Carol F. Guest guest
Welcome to the group Pamela, Nice to see another Canadian > I never give my Asian kids milk > products. I would like to know if there is significant research to > know it is safe for Asian kids to drink goat milk/yoguart. I don't know if there has been research to determine the safety for those of asian descent eating/drinking dairy. You might want to try using a search engine like " google " to see. TMK, some of asian descent do have problems with dairy that is usually associated with the lactose. If this is the case with your children then the 24 hour goat yogurt may be fine for them because almost all the lactose is converted to glucose and galactose by the yogurt starter cultures. If you decide to try the yogurt start with a tiny amount 1/8 - 1/4 tsp. The yogurt is extremely potent (high numbers of good bacteria, enzymes etc.) and may cause die off which you wouldn't want to confuse with not being able to tolerate the yogurt. > I use goat whey in the goat milk and my baby son is 21 pounds as a > result! The intro diet is very good for those with diarrhea. Please see http://pecanbread.com/foodprep.html#intro (dairy free) http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/beginners_guide/beginners.htm (uses dairy) There are some great tips for getting started on the diet http://pecanbread.com/foodprep.html#transition http://pecanbread.com/foodprep.html#menu http://pecanbread.com/foodprep.html#homemade > He is having the runs right now > and I want to make sure he keeps his electrolytes. Lactase non-persistence occurs in an estimated 25% of the U.S. population and 75% of adults worldwide (9,33,39). In general, the prevalence varies widely among different ethnic and racial population groups and is least common among persons of northern European descent (33,37,39). In the U.S., an estimated 90% of Asian Americans, 75% of African Americans, 53% of Mexican Americans, and 15% of Caucasians are lactose maldigesters (33,37,40). Carol F. Guest guest
Thanks Carol! I guess the question is....WOULD yoguart be OK for my autistic son despite being Asian. I was told by doctors that Asians have special enzymes to digest soya because it has been a BIG part of their diet for soooo long. I have tended to stay away from both milk products and soya. In this diet it says eat goat yoguart specially made. I can use goat milk from a local farmer. HOW to procede with this as it will be a new food for him! What a bout allergic reactions? Also when to start the yoguart. My son has been on the diet for 5 days thus far. He has gotten floractin (A form of Acidophilus) often for years. The GFCF diet did make a major impact on changing his autism but I am sure grains are a problem for digestion. His x-rays revealed that his intestines are completely filled with poop! So I know there ares till issues for digestion. He is quite constipated over the past 2 months. Hoping to see a chang wih eliminating grains! Thanks for all the great info to help me on this journey!!!! Pamela > > Is this relevant? > Prevalence. Guest guest
Hi Pamela, > Thanks Sheila! > > What part of Canada are you from? I am in Newfoundland. > What is your experience with this diet? Wow, my experience on the diet could be a book. It's all been good though, tough at times, but good. I'd hate to think where I'd be without the diet or...at least which body parts would be missing. (Once in the ER, the doctor on call said that since I'd had Ulcerative Colitis for so long it was pretty amazing that I still had all my colon and I hadn't had any surgery.) The majority of my (long) SCD story (not including the last five " interesting " months) is at http://pecanbread.com/SCD_Solutions.html Sheila, SCD 2/01, UC 22yrs mom of and
