Guest guest
<< My guess is yeast overgrowth and now die-off >> I think this is most likely. Yogurt is powerful stuff... and often triggers die-off, following by further healing. Since you just started the yogurt again this past week, I would be willing to bet this is what's going on. If so, it should be temporary. If you've been eating cheese all along, I think it's highly doubtful that either of you are reacting to the dairy itself. Guest guest
Hi Patti; How long do you think yogurt die-off can last? I started our family (dairy-free SCD) on goat yogurt (from my yogourmet) about 2 weeks ago. My eldest daughter is reacting positively. Started low and slow with 1/8 tsp/day. My youngest daughter (2 yo) is still having the same symptoms as she had prior to starting this diet 2 months ago. Runny poops, raging behaviours, general hyperactivity and tantrums. There have been no infractions. Is the diet not working for her or could it be attributed to the goat yogurt? When can we look forward to the yogurt providing further healing? Thanks, Kim 2 months dairy-free SCD 3.5 yo ASD, raging 2 yo possibly NT Re: question about yeast << My guess is yeast overgrowth and now die-off >> I think this is most likely. Guest guest
Kim, Tell me exactly what the 2-yr-old is eating... and how you're preparing it. Die-off *can* last for weeks.... but if you're concerned that the yogurt is causing an increase in negative behavior, you could pull it for a few days and see if anything changes. Is she still getting only 1/8 tsp per day? I agree it's really important to get the healing benefits of the yogurt.... so I'd hate to see you stop using it, but you may just need to stop for a bit, then restart again in a week. First tell me about all the food, though.... EVERYthing. It seems odd that you are still seeing runny poops. I am suspicious that there's something she's eating that she's not ready for yet.... even if it's legal. Patti Re: question about yeast Hi Patti; How long do you think yogurt die-off can last? Guest guest
Dear Kim, I know this much: a few weeks is not enough time to see the benefits of SCD. The gut is hard to heal. It takes time, but it is worth it. An absolutely wonderful talk on SCD can be found at the DAN! Webcast videos for Washington DC. The speaker is Judy Gorman. You can find it here: http://www.danwebcast.com/ You have to register and they send you a numeric code so that you can watch the videos. Don't worry, they don't send you spam if you register. Don't miss this one! : D > > Hi Patti; > > How long do you think yogurt die-off can last? > > I started our family (dairy-free SCD) on goat yogurt (from my yogourmet) about 2 weeks ago. > > My eldest daughter is reacting positively. Guest guest
Thanks Kathy. Yes I heard Judy speak about SCD and how it helped her non-responder son at one of the DAN! conferences. It was inspiring. I will check out the link - a refresher would probably be a boost right now. Kim

If you have been okay with cheese before and with the yogurt are having symptoms I'd think you are experiencing lots of die off from the yeast. If you cut back on the yogurt a bit that may reduce the die off so you don't feel as bad. >I began having a weird rash about > three days ago, after an outing with my granddaughter I had rashes with yeast and had more temporaily with yeast die off. Guest guest
Hi Patti - Thanks for the reply... Did you want me to contact you off list for details of my youngest daughter's diet? Guest guest
Kim, I'd rather you post through the list, so that some of the other veterans can look it over, too. They may see something that I've missed. Patti Re: question about yeast Kim, Tell me exactly what the 2-yr-old is eating... and how you're preparing it.
