Guest guest
Hi, My 6 months old baby boy (Luke ) has just got his star band to correct right side plagio. We have been easing into it and today he wears it all day, the same tomorrow and then he progresses to 23 hours a day wear time. I would appreciate sleeping tips. Our baby sleeps on his tummy - this was done as we were attempted positional therapy - and he has not been able to sleep on his back for about 3 months now. I've read that memory foam helps make things more comfortable for them. If so, what thickness should I get? 1 inch, 2 inches it goes up to 4 inches. Also, should I dress him lighter at night? We are based in San Francisco. What other things must I keep in mind? I would appreciate any advice. Thank you. Ana Luke - 1st star band wearer 6 months. 26th Jan 2008. Guest guest
Hi Ana - You can buy a twin-size 1/2 " thick piece of memory foam at Target for appx $40. You will just need to cut the piece down to fit the crib mattress. We put the memory foam under the mattress pad so if there were any leaks the memory foam wouldn't get ruined. Definitely your son lighter at night. Instead of a blanket sleeper I would put him in a regular pair of footed jammies. If he still seems to warm try a pair without feet. We are located just north of you in Marin County. The nights can still get cool so I would still put a light weight blanket on top. Again, if he seems to warm remove the blanket. If your son is comfortable sleeping on his stomach then I see no reason not to keep him like that with his band on. A lot of babies move from sleeping on their backs to their tummies while banded because it tends to be a comfortable position for them. Good luck with the new band!
