Deanna, Do you know what dosages would compare to 50 mg. duragesic and 20 mg. Percocet for breakthrough? That's what I'm on now. Thanx, With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Guest guest
Deanna, I don't get it either. I'm totally clueless. All I know is that they called me several months ago, during my first application process, and asked me why I was taking Celexa. I told them it had been prescribed by my GI to take to help with the depression I had been going through in trying to deal with my CP. At the time it was prescribed, I didn't even have the diabetes yet. That came later on. The letter I received from SSDI said - " Additional medical evidence about your Depression is needed to evaluate your Social Security disability claim. An appointment has been made for you as shown below for a mental examination " . And like a lamb being lead to slaughter.....I went as instructed. I was advised by SSDI that they " expected me to go to any examination scheduled for me, if not, the disability decision will be made on information in my file. This may result in a denial of my claim. " These are quoted from the letter that was sent with the appointment scheduled. I spoke to my attorney about it, and he said it was very critical that I go as instructed. I think I will calll my examiner tomorrow, to let her know that I did go as instructed, and then ask her what the purpose of all of this was for. Should be interesting, don't you think? First, why did you have to undergo a psych exam, especially if depression wasn't one of the main health issues? Why did he have to assess your mental state at the present time. Guest guest
Heidi, Just before being approved for my SSDI, I received a phone call from someone with SS. He asked several questions like what you were asked. He also asked things like: How do I care for my children My mother moved in with me to help because I cannot take my pain meds and feel confident of their care without the help. Do I do my own shopping No, I get someone to do it for me, family or a neighbor Who cleans my house My mother, for the same reasons as above Do I ever cry because you are sick Yes, all of the time, either from the pian or from feeling so useless. What activities that you were able to do before your illness that you can not do now, do you miss the most Almost everything! Duh! Do I ever need assistance to perform daily hygiene I need someone close by in case I get dizzy from the meds and fall. I have a shower chair for sitting on in the shower for these times. Do I require help going to the doctor or other apts. Yes because I will not drive when I take my pain meds which are required if I am going to be up and walking around, if I do not take the meds for the pain, I will end up having to crawl to where I have to go. There were some really dumb questions too, like how long does it take me to get dressed in the morning, who cooks my meals (what meals? Do you mean I can eat?), and so on. Some things that at the time where really stupid questions but thinking back on them I think they were meant to trip me up, I guess it didn't work, because I even offered to put my mother on the phone to tell him everything she does for me! Heidi, I really think this is good sign, maybe it is just right around the corner before you get an approval letter. I will keep praying for you. By the way did you manage to cry in the middle of his questions to show him how depressed you are over your terrible disease? LOL :-') Simi Valley
Guest guest
Deann/Heidi, it is customary in most states that anyone taking depression medications have a psych exam. Also, I had one because I listed having problems with concentration and memory. The psychologist that I saw had me do a lot of memory and concentration tests (and evidently I failed quite a few of them because in my letter that said I got approval, it stated that my psych evaluator said I had marked memory and attention problems). Guest guest
Deanna, The oxycontin seems to be working okay, but the Oxy IR is worthless. Might as well take a sugar tablet. I haven't started on the Viokase yet, the doctor wanted to wait until I'd used up my Ultrase and will start the new enzymes in three weeks.....sigh, so I'll just have to be patient. Last time I went on enzymes, it took me four months before I even gained 1 pound, so I expect this won't be any instantanious miracle, either. Just a couple pounds a week would be heavenly. I'd like to have some curves...hahaha...in time for swim suit and shorts season. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina SC & SE Regional Rep. PAI, Intl. Guest guest
Hi again Deanna. I hope you enjoy what I send. If they ever get to bugging you, just tell me and I will not send them. I enjoyed the one I got from you today. is not good, she has not been out of house since Christmas, wont talk to anyone, wont see anyone, not even me. And worse of all, besides the pain, she wont bathe, and she was a person who might bathe 2-3 times a day, plus wash her hair like that too. Now she just sits or lays. I do know she is in pain, but what i cant understand is why she wont seek help. Again,,,,I do understand that too,,,,she is in a deep deprssion and does not care about anything. I have also been in a deep depression and nerves very bad for over 3 months now, I am seeing a dr and he is changing meds all the time but so far, they havent done much good. Hope to talk to you again soon, Love Jean
