I have been working on my patient letter for the longest time. Now

with us having to have one page per topic, I am really in trouble.

Topic #2 " Understanding morbid/clinically severe obesity " is so

similar to topic #1 that I need to repeat some things. Wonder if he

will reject it if I do that.

My main problem is reading all the e-mails. I even get up in the

middle of the night to check these e-mails. I am addicted. I don't

post much at all, but boy, do I know you guys. Every time I sit down

at my computer to work on my letter, I end up reading e-mail. I love

it. I get so much encouragement from each of you. I have mental

pictures about all of you and I'll bet for the most part I am not far

from wrong. When I went to that dear wonderful 's

site, she looked almost just like I had always pictured her. What a

friend to have.

I have not started on my contacts yet. Are E-mail contacts OK? How

much do I need to document? I guess if I read my patient manual,

(the new one) I would find out. I have read almost every word.

Love ya all

Hi Betty,

I don't think you have to have a strict one page per topic letter. If your

letter if full and complete, and addresses all the issues, you will be fine.

As for the contacts, I know that Dr R prefers you talk to somew people

" live, " but did approve us and others with only email contacts. He did ask

us, point blank, at clinic if we had spoken to anyone. Of course I mentioned

the fact that we " speak " via the onelist daily to hundreds of people, and

have for months! Also, we contacted over 90 people, via email and received

around 45 responses, so it was clear that we had done our homework.

As for obsessing over the emails, we all have been through that!

Good luck!

Error/Warning.

The letters now must be longer and we are much more strict.

Lots of people were copying the sample letter without really knowing what

was in it.

I am now requiring 1 full page per topic. (check the new Manual)

I am going to be very strict and soon there is going to be a test.

Hey! Betty! I am still pre-op but my packet has been approved...On each contact

I just wrote a short paragraph: the persons name (some I only had the first

name), their e-mail address and the best information they gave me. I think I

actually had 11 or 12 names. Hope this helps... Tami Stauffer

I'm sorry, but that one had me rolling in the aisles as I envisioned 75

point typeface, three words per page, all 11 pages . . .

Thats why I asked. I have written a few term papers in my life and have

seen all of the tricks. I just want to make sure that I don't write too

much for the good Doctor.

Hey Robin we're next door neighbors I'm in Oxford. I'm scheduled to have my

surgery next Friday. I am so excited. I believe that when I went to the

clinic Dr. R said that six feet were bypassed.
