Guest guest
I was in the hospital for 21 days with severe pancreatitis, after 5 months of convalescing they decided it was safe to remove my gall bladder. Things did not go well. I ended up with two post operative absesses. These were drained via simple tubes into a bag over a three week period. I also ended up with anemia, pneumonia and scarred lung and diaphragm. GET THESE ABESSESS OUT OF YOUR WIFE NOW AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!! Update on New Pancreatitis patient Apparently, after 7 days in the hospital, the enzyme levels have gone down, but my wife still complains of severe pain. Now there is a new complication. Since the pain is all over her abdomen, the docs suggested a CT scan today. Results showed that there is a lot of fluid in the abdomen and the doc believes that it could be infected too...a condition called Peritonitis (sp?). This excess fluid may contain " leaked " enzymes from the Pancreas and could be " eating away " on the gut walls. They plan to test the fluid of any organizms and plan to treat it accordingly. Has anyone on this board experienced this before? Any information would be good to know. Thanks so much. ~ Singh _____
Guest guest
I had fluid in the abdomen november 2000. A cyste on pancreas was leaking after a stent from cyste to stomach was done. I was cut open and dead pancreas was removed and the cyste was sewed to the stomach to drain. I was in very high fever but it turned out very well. To day I am not to bad either. Guest guest
More about my wife: 23rd day in the hospital...we had to move her to town Univesity Hospital which supposedly has better doctors and care. She had an MRCP a few days back which concluded Hemorrhagic Pancreatitis. No pseudocysts or absess yet. All blood tests are now normal including enzymes and triglycerides (down to 207 from 3900). Doctors have not ruled out necrosis yet, but said that it may manifest later. A few days back, she was almost pain free with 2mg Dilaudid (via IV every 6-8 hours) and the TPN...still NPO. But, as soon as she started eating a little (clear liquids to semi-solids) the pain came back. She has been off the TPN and Dilaudid (IV) from the last 3 days and taking some liquids, but her pain seems to be coming and going at odd times. Sometimes the abdominal pain comes right after a small bowl of soup, but other times back pain crops up all of a sudden. I have heard that night sweats are common which is the other thing she is going through....although its reducing now. She is now on oral Dilaudid (4 mg every 3 hours), but since the pain is not going away, the doctors may put her back on the TPN and let her stay NPO for a few days. I have a feeling the doctors are missing out on something which is causing the pain while all her tests look normal. Has anyone been through hemorrhagic pancreatitis with this kind of pain cycle? Would love to hear from anyone who can contribute some logic or experiences to this. Thanks. ~ Singh > Apparently, after 7 days in the hospital, the enzyme levels have gone > down, but my wife still complains of severe pain. Now there is a new > complication.
