Guest guest
Thank you to all who responded with info about compounding pharmacists. I just called one in my area, and they said that a methylcobalamin supplement could be made without illegals, however it can't be in sublingual form. My doctor says that, since I must take a very high dose for now, a capsule form may upset my very sensitive stomach. So, I may find I have to end up taking the sublingual form with the illegals after all (shots are also not an option right now because of the dose) - and it's important I take it because my tests show that I am at risk for heart disease at 32 yrs old. So now I'm wondering, if I have to do that, is it possible that I won't get any benefit from the diet when I begin? I ask this because on page 183 of BTVC Elaine says, " If you take vitamins with starch and other forbidden carbohydrates, you will lose the benefit of the diet " . But, I know that somewhere in all Elaine's info she said that she knows that some people may have to take some necessary meds with illegals in them, and that's ok. I can't find that info now, but I'm sure I read it. And a person on the longisland listserve quoted that to me too. Is this correct? If so maybe I'll be ok, since this supplement is apparently as necessary as any medicine for me. Thanks everyone, Lora
