Guest guest
Lynn, How many foods was he tested for? Was he tested for any environmental allergies? If his total IgE is very high and his food allergy panel is pretty low, I would suspect environmental allergies like pollen, grass, mold, animals, weeds, etc. Jody mom to -7 and -9 SCD 1/
Guest guest
I am not sure exactly how many foods were tested; it seems like about 15. No environmental allergies were tested for. How could I get him tested for those? Lynn [Norton AntiSpam] Re: IgE allergy testing Lynn, How many foods was he tested for? Was he tested for any environmental allergies? Guest guest
Lynn, You asked: <<Can yeast and/or bacteria impact IgE levels? >> I don't know much about allergy testing. I think the answer to your question above is yes.... but, indirectly, in my opinion. By that I mean that yeast and bacteria contribute to a " leaky gut " ... and the teeny perforations in the gut wall lead to the food sensitivities, and reactions, because it allows tiny undigested particles of foods to escape and get into the blood stream where they don't belong. The body then has to treat those as " foreign bodies " and react accordingly. Not sure I'm 100% technically right on this.... but you get the gist. Many families here have noticed that after some time on SCD, and significant gut healing, their kids can tolerate foods that they previously were sensitive to. Guest guest
" No environmental allergies were tested for. How could I get him tested for those? " Lynn, Take him to an allergist, a pediatric one if possible. They can skin test him or use a RAST (blood )test to test for a lot more than 15 foods and for a whole host of environmental allergies.
