Just be sure you take your multi-vitamins and get plenty of protein. The concern is that you can become anemic from not enough iron and since you don't process fats well anymore, that you won't get enough of the fat soluable vitamins. You won't digest fats well anymore after the MGB, but you can eat them, they will just pass right through (and qualify you for the orange team . . .) and may give you the stinky toots and runs . . . Protein is a concern simply because you are starving (getting in less than 1000 calories a day) and your body will eat your muscles before fat, so you need to feed it protein instead, so watch your protein intake. 45-55 g of protein a day (more if you can get it in) As for the carbs, etc., there's no major issue with those, but personally, I have tried to limit my carb intake when possible just because I feel better on low carbs. People on the Atkins diet have to keep their carbs under some ridiculous number of grams a day -- I'm thinking it's 65 grams? -- but I don't remember -- and there are several pre-ops on here who are losing weight with the Atkins diet, which is high protein, low carbs. As for anything solid, including peanut butter and crackers, don't start solids for at least two weeks. You can have crackers the first two weeks, technically, but why push your luck? You've been on diets for a lot longer than two weeks before and this one is the LAST ONE you will ever have to do and it's only for 2 weeks. You've been set free! :-) I eat those, too. Just finished two of them in fact. The only reason Dinah has to worry is that she isn't out of the 2 weeks where she can't eat solids yet, that's all.
